Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 April 2026
AiLabs ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, including the IPP 3A amendment effective 1 May 2026.
Who we are
AiLabs is an AI agency based in Christchurch, New Zealand. You can contact us at hello@ailabs.co.nz for any privacy-related enquiry.
Information we collect
We collect information in two ways:
1. Information you provide directly
- Contact details - your name and email address when you book a call or email us.
- Business data - information you share during a strategy session or project build.
2. Information we collect indirectly (IPP 3A)
In accordance with the 1 May 2026 update to the Privacy Act (IPP 3A), we notify you that we may collect information about you from sources other than you directly, such as:
- Publicly available sources - such as your company website, LinkedIn profile, or professional directories, to better understand your business needs before a consultation.
- Client data - as part of our AI build services, our clients may provide us with data that contains personal information to help us train or test their custom AI agents.
How we use AI and automation
As an AI agency, we use advanced tools to process information. We follow these strict principles:
- No Automated Decisions - We do not use AI to make significant decisions about individuals (such as hiring or credit) without human oversight.
- Privacy-First Tools - We prioritize the use of enterprise-grade AI models (e.g., OpenAI Enterprise, Anthropic Console) that offer "Zero Data Retention" for training, meaning your data is not used to train the global AI models.
- Data Minimization - We only process the specific data required to achieve the project outcome.
Why we collect it
We collect information to provide our services, respond to enquiries, and help NZ businesses automate their operations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Your rights
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Request that we correct any errors in your information.
- Request that we delete your personal information (see our Data Deletion page).
To exercise these rights, email hello@ailabs.co.nz. We will respond within 20 working days.
Complaints
If you have a concern, please contact us first. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
